Pickling and passivation stainless steel – ASTM A380

WHAT IS PICKLING AND PASSIVATION?

Pickling is a process to remove the depleted outer Chromium layer where it no longer protects, due to the transformation from Chromium Oxide to Chromium Carbide. In this layer the content of Chromium is reduced to a minimum to protect the alloys surface.

So Pickling ensures the cleaning of the surface through etching with specific Acids to remove the Heat Tint from the HAZ (Heat Affected Zones) and any scale or contamination from the operational medium, to render the surface as new alloy, has come out from the mill.

Whereas Passivation is a process to enrich the Oxygen content around the alloys surface to react with a new layer of the Chromium and to regenerate, a newer protective layer of Chromium Oxide. So, Pickling and Passivation is a work package that cleans and protects your stainless steel.

OUR SERVICE OFFERINGS

We have the experience and skills necessary to tackle just about every type of job that comes our way. With Chemical Cleaning Services, clients know exactly what to expect - professionalism, efficiency and exceptional results.

Our company, Chemical Cleaning Services (CCS),  is capable of performing pickling and passivation of all grades of Stainless steels. We successfully pickled and passivated almost all types of stainless steel pressure vessels, tanks, pipelines, spools, etc.

Our Pickling and Passivation operations are conducted according to the guidelines and recommendations of ASSDA and ASTM A380 & A967 through our parent company.
We are able to pickle and passivate Austenitic, Duplex, Super Duplex and all other special alloys. Our chemistry is based on Nitric acid and Hydrofluoric acids mixture that is deemed to remove all the Heat Affected Zone discolorations and to restore the protective Chromium Oxide layer.
CCS carries out the pickling and passivation of the stainless-steel structures/systems regardless the shapes or the sizes.

We have our experienced team and the proper equipment to pickle and passivate them by dipping in immersion tanks, spraying the surfaces using the chemicals mixtures in Gel form or by re-circulation of the pickling liquid using our compatible hoses and pumps.
